Description

Hawaiian garlic shrimp is a buttery, garlicky, and succulent dish featuring juicy shrimp pan-seared to perfection in a rich garlic butter sauce, often served with rice and a side of mac salad.


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb shrimp, tail-on (you can leave the entire shell on for maximum flavor, or remove it)
    • You can use frozen shrimp, just make sure it is completely thawed before use
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for light coating)

Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 10 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional; for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels, then season with paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Lightly coat the shrimp in flour.
  3. To a large pan over high-medium heat, add 3 tablespoons of butter and allow it to melt.
  4. Add the shrimp in a single layer and cook for about 2 minutes.
  5. In the same pan, add in the minced garlic, and flip the shrimp to cook the other side for an two minutes.
  6. Drizzle the lemon juice on top of the shrimp and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce. Allow to cook for one more minute.
  7. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot with steamed rice and mac salad for a true Hawaiian-style meal.
